When Telehealth Is the Best Choice

The COVID-19 pandemic brought many changes to the way we live and work — including how we access medical care. Telehealth became essential during lockdowns, and while in-person visits have resumed, virtual visits are here to stay.
At Spinal Diagnostics, we offer telehealth appointments for specific scenarios where an in-person visit isn’t necessary. But how do you know when telehealth is the right choice?
What is telehealth?
Telehealth uses secure video conferencing technology to connect you with a provider from the comfort of your home. You can use a computer, tablet, or smartphone for your appointment — no travel or waiting room required.
We use telehealth appointments for consultations, medication management, post-treatment follow-ups, and some types of chronic condition monitoring.
When is telehealth a good fit?
Here are a few scenarios where a telehealth appointment can be ideal:
- You have limited mobility or transportation
- You’re following up after a procedure or injection
- You need to review test results or imaging
- You want to discuss medication adjustments
- You’re managing a chronic pain condition
Telehealth may also be helpful for initial evaluations, where we can gather your history and symptoms before determining next steps — especially if you’re unsure whether an in-person physical exam is needed.
What can’t be done over telehealth?
While telehealth is convenient, it’s not a replacement for every type of visit. Some conditions require a physical examination, in-office testing, or procedures that can only be done face-to-face. We’ll let you know when an in-person visit is best.
If you’re experiencing new or worsening symptoms, or if your condition requires hands-on care, we may recommend coming into our Tualatin or Newberg office instead.
